Wake-up Calculator

Enter when you plan to go to bed. We add sleep cycles to find the best moments to wake up.

Waking at the end of a cycle means ending in light sleep — easier to get up.

How the wake-up calculator works

A wake-up calculator takes the time you go to bed and adds natural 90-minute sleep cycles to surface the best moments to wake up. Each suggested time lands on a cycle boundary, so you end a cycle in light sleep instead of being pulled out of deep sleep.

If you have ever asked “what is the best time to wake up”, the honest answer is rarely a round hour like 6:30. It is the end of a full cycle. Wake there and you feel alert; wake mid-cycle and you feel groggy even after plenty of hours.

Why wake at a cycle boundary?

Your brain cycles through light, deep and REM sleep about every 90 minutes. Waking between cycles — during light sleep — is the gentle exit. This is the same idea behind every Restcalc tool, and it lines up with sleep-science guidance such as the National Sleep Foundation's duration recommendations (2022).

A few quick tips

  • Pick the wake time with the cycle count that fits your morning.
  • Keep a consistent wake time — it anchors your whole cycle.
  • If you feel tired after long sleep, shift bedtime 30–60 minutes.
